Background
Now entering its fourth year, the Financial Post's Ten Best Companies to Work For competition is organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers. This special designation recognizes fast-growing companies in Canada that offer tremendous career advancement opportunities together with leading-edge employee perks and benefits. We are honoured to have the Financial Post as our partner on this list once again this year. Their 1990 paperback, "The 100 Best Companies to Work For in Canada", was the first major work in our field in Canada.
Selection Process
Employers are evaluated by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers to determine which ones are growing fastest in their fields, in terms of revenue growth and the size of their workforce. Then our editors review their recruitment and retention policies using the same eight criteria as our national "Top 100" competition: (1) Physical Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement. Fast-growing employers are compared to other companies in their industry to determine which offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.
Editorial Partner
Our editorial partner on this competition is the Financial Post, which is the business section of the National Post newspaper. Each fall, the Financial Post announces the winners in a special editorial supplement, which includes our reasons for selecting each employer. Eligibility Requirements
Unlike our other other "top employer" projects, this competition is open only to private sector employers. Companies must operate in Canada and disclose certain financial information, including annual revenue growth, to our editors. Employers must be growing quickly relative to other companies in their industry, both in terms of their revenues and number of employees. This competition is open to both publicly listed and privately held companies.
2009 Competition
Our 2009 winners will be announced in a special editorial supplement in the Financial Post in October, 2008.
How to Apply
Employers apply for this competition through the Canada's Top 100 Employers application process. Employers complete a single application package for both competitions. Request an application.
